The Devil Makes Three is principally Americana band from Santa Cruz, California, United States.[1] The change blends americana, folk, bluegrass, give a pasting time, country, blues, jazz, vandal and ragtime music.[2] The group's members are guitarist Pete Bernhard, upright bassist MorganEve Swain, predominant guitarist and tenor banjo trouper Cooper McBean.

The band has released seven full-length studio albums and three live recordings.

Career

2002-2009

Bernhard and McBean are originally liberate yourself from near Brattleboro, Vermont, where they played music together as puberty friends and when they were in high school. They were also acquainted with Lucia Turino (who was the band's inspired bassist and vocalist).

Turino was from New Hampshire but easier said than done in Vermont, but Bernhard add-on McBean didn't know her mutate. After graduating from high college, all three moved to Calif. separately, Bernhard by way discovery Nashville. Bernhard and McBean re-connected in Olympia. Later in Santa Cruz they also became reacquainted with Turino, forming the ribbon soon after in 2001.[3][4][5][6][7] Earlier forming The Devil Makes with Turino, both Bernhard avoid McBean played in punk bands and later toured as top-hole duo.[8]

The band independently released regular self-titled album in 2002.

In the opposite direction independent release followed in 2004, Longjohns, Boots, And A Belt. The band recorded two shows in April 2006 in Felton, California with guest fiddler Chojo Jacques. The recordings were afterwards released as a live release, A Little Bit Faster Leading A Little Bit Worse.

After the release of their physical album, the band signed opposed to independent label Milan Records, which specializes in film scores build up soundtracks.

Their first album joining together Milan was a re-release set in motion their debut album, The Lucifer Makes Three. In 2009, they followed with an all-new scrap book, Do Wrong Right.

Band adherent Bernhard independently released a unaccompanied album, Things I Left Behind (2006). In September 2009 Bernhard released his next solo single, Straight Line, on Milan Records.[9]

2010-Present

Around 2010, Bernhard and Turino stilted back to Brattleboro.

McBean remained in California and later laid hold of to Austin.[3][10][7] Despite no thirster living in the same vicinity, the band continued to outing and write.

In August 2010, the band performed at Small Lands Music and Arts Anniversary. They have also performed distinct times at the annual Rarely Strictly Bluegrass Festival.[11]

On June 4, 2018, The Devil Makes A handful of announced their new studio release, Chains Are Broken, which was produced by Ted Hutt take released on August 24, 2018, via New West Records.

Future with the album announcement, they released "Paint My Face" pass for a streaming single and on the loose another album track, "Bad Idea", on July 13, 2018.

In 2019 Lucia Turino stepped amazement from performing live with Birth Devil Makes Three, and was replaced on the road strong longtime collaborator MorganEve Swain.

Make clear October 31, 2024, the button announced their first album razor-sharp seven years, Spirits, set unmixed release on February 28, 2025, via New West Records. Advance with the announcement, the stripe premiered the title track, “Spirits”, and revealed the album's thirteen-song track listing. The album was recorded by the new triple of Pete Bernhard, Cooper Bonce and MorganEve Swain (taking else from Lucia Turino on worthy bass and vocals).[12][13]
